17 Days Apes Safari

This 18-day safari begins from Entebbe/Kampala aiming at Viewing Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Game viewing in the Queen Elizabeth National Park, Semuliki National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, and Lake Mburo National Park. Day 001: Arrival
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet with the guide who will transfer to you to your hotel and later brief you about the all safari and the time to be picked up at the hotel tomorrow. Overnight at Entebbe Lake Victoria hotel (Luxury), Imperial resort hotel (Midrange) or the boma guest house (Budget)

 Day 002: Transfer to Ngamba Island
Enjoy your breakfast to later transfer to Uganda wildlife centre to board your speed boat to the Jane Good All Ngamba Chimpanzee Island to view chimpanzees. Upon arrival at Ngamba Island, you will be greeted by the duty caregiver of the Chimpanzees, he will lead you to view the chimpanzees, photograph them and play with these fascinating apes in their natural environment, you will later transfer back to Entebbe for lunch and a visit to the Uganda wildlife education centre for the caged animal. Retire late for overnight at Lake Victoria hotel, Imperial resort hotel or the boma guest house

 

Day 003: Transfer to Murchison Falls National park
At 7.00am, leave for Murchison falls national Park, with an en-route at Zziwa rhino sanctuary for the black and white rhinos. You will proceed to Murchison Falls reaching in the late afternoon. Proceed to the top of the falls for sight seeing and later retire for overnight at Paraa safari lodge (Luxury), Sambiya river lodge (Midrange) or Red chili rest camp (Budget)

Day 004: Game Drive and Launch drive
Wake up early in the morning at around 6.00 am and take a cup of coffee, drive to the northern part of the park for an early morning game drive in search for giraffes, lions, oribis, Jackson’s hartebeest and many other animals. You will return to the lodge for breakfast, relax and have lunch. In the afternoon have a launch drive down the falls as you descend appreciating the beauty of the falls, It is here that every drop of water in the Nile River plunges and explodes through a narrow gorge. For the physically fit, a hike on the steep cliff for good photographic view of the falls can be organized. Return to the lodge for overnight

Day 005: Forest walk
Enjoy your breakfast to proceed to Budongo Forest and visit the Kaniyo Pabidi Eco-tourism site- a partnership with the local community. It is a natural forest still in its virgin form characterized with mahohogany, and iron wood trees. Carry out a forest walk with the help of an experienced guide viewing the wonderful fauna and flora. Much rare wildlife exist here notably the chimpanzees, buffaloes, lions, leopards, and other species of primates and different bird species. Overnight at Paraa safari lodge, Sambiya river lodge or Red chili camp

 

Day 006: Transfer to Kibale forest National Park
You will be transferred to Kibale forest national park, the drive is about 7-8 hours drive passing through hills, valleys and plantations. You will reach fort portal in the evening. Overnight at Ndali lodge (luxury), Primates lodge (Midrange) or Primates cottages (Budget)

Day 007: Chimpanzee tracking and nature walk
Early in the morning have breakfast to transfer to Kanyachu tourist centre for a short briefing before entering the forest. You will follow the animal trails to track the chimpanzees. Have lunch to transfer to Bigodi wetland for a nature walk for the various swamp species. Overnight at Ndali lodge, primates lodge or Primates cottages

Day 008: Transfer to Semuliki national park
After breakfast, move to Semuliki Valley national park for a game drive and a visit to the hot springs, the scenery is beautiful and birdlife is stunning. Overnight at Semuliki safari lodge (Luxury) or Semuliki national bandas (Budget)

Day 009: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Leave Fort Portal after breakfast in the morning with a game drive enroute for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Relax at the Lodge and have your lunch as you prepare for an afternoon chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge. You will return for overnight at Mweya safari lodge (Luxury), Ihamba safari (Midrange) or Bush lodge (Budget)

Day 10: Nature walks and launch drive
Have a morning nature walk to the Bats Cave a home of thousands of bats and reptiles such as pythons feeding on these bats. Return to the lodge for lunch and later enjoy an afternoon launch drive along the Kazinga Channel. You will a chance to view unique wildlife such as a multitude of hippos, Red Forest buffaloes, crocodiles, Giant Forest hog, and elephants, among others, it is also a natural magnet for water birds such as Long-tailed Cormorants, Common Squacco Heron, African Fish Eagle, Graeat White and Pink-backed Pelicans, African Jacana, African Wattled Plovers, Malachite and Kingfisher, Black Crake, etc. Return to the lodge for overnight

Day 11: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
After breakfast drive through the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha sector) en route enjoying a game drive that offers you an opportunity to view tree-climbing lions and numerous antelope Have lunch to proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest reaching in the evening. Overnight at Gorilla forest lodge (Luxury), Gift of nature lodge (Midrange) or Buhoma Community Bandas (Budget)

Day 12: Gorilla tracking
Today you will transfer to the park headquarters for briefing from the park guide before tracking the gorillas. If you are lucky you may get a gorilla family in less than an hour but this depends so much on the movement of these apes because at times it takes 3-9 hours in the forest looking for them but the thrill of encountering them, is an experience of a life time. You will be allowed to spend an hour with the gorillas. Return to the lodge for relaxation and late in the evening go for traditional performances by a group of orphaned children. Overnight at Gorilla forest lodge, gift of nature lodge or Buhoma community bandas

Day 13: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
You will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi one of the deepest lakes in Africa, take a canoe ride on this beautiful lake and visit the different islands, you will be entertained by the local people and later return for Overnight at Acardia cottages (Luxury), Bunyonyi safari resort (Midrange) or Bunyonyi overland (Budget)

Day 14: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Take your breakfast, to transfer to Lake Mburo, you will have lunch in Mbarara and later transfer to Lake Mburo, check in at your hotel and then proceed for an evening game drive in search for zebras, Impalas, Topis, Warthogs, Buffaloes, birds such as African fit foot, Papyrus bush shrike, etc.. Overnight at Mantana tented Camp (Luxury), Arcadia cottages (Midrange) or Rwonyo camp (Budget)

Day 15: Game Drive and Boat ride
Take a morning game drive to catch up with the early risers. You may see different animal species like the zebras, impalas, warthogs and so many others. Overnight at Mantana Tented camp, Arcadia cottages or Rwonyo camp

Day 16: Nature Walk and transfer back to Kampala
Today, your guide takes you for a nature walk to the Salt Lick Area which is a strategically located wooden platform; you will have the chance to see at least four different species of animals at any one point while they lick the salty soil. Lake Mburo is the only place in this part of Uganda where you can see zebras and Impalas licking salt. It’s also the best place to see the African Eland, Africa’s largest antelope! You will return to lodge for lunch and later transfer back to Kampala with a brief stopover at the equator. You will reach in the evening for overnight at Sheraton Hotel (Luxury), Taj Mahal Hotel (Midrange) or Holiday express hotel (Budget)

 

Day 17: City tour and Departure
Depending on your departure flight, you will take a city tour around Kampala to visit interesting places in the city, like the Kasubi tombs, Uganda museum, and so many others. You have lunch and later transfer to the airport for your flight back Home. Book this Safari
